In a recent report, the International Monetary Fund estimated that the world’s poorest countries could be on the verge of becoming wealthier in the coming years.
In a speech to the United Nations General Assembly last month, Chinese President Xi Jinping warned that poverty is on the rise.
He cited a United Nations report estimating that China’s per capita income for its people is now roughly three times that of the United States.

Xi said the new plant will create 2,000 jobs.
He said the company would create 500,000 workers over the next five years, and that the new facility will be built to supply China with products such as solar panels, solar cells, batteries, computers, telecommunication equipment, medical equipment, consumer electronics, and medical equipment.
The factory will employ around 50,000 people, Xi said.
